What merchant account to use?
I am looking to start an online business. And I want to accept credit card payments. It would be doing recurring billing as well. However, I am a little confused with the service I use. I am based outside the U.S. 1shoppingcart and dealer website recommended as WorldPay and International Merchant account provider. Then I went to another shopping cart software and website Authorize.net some state taxes. What is Authorize.net anyway? Is it necessary to WorldPay and Authorize.net at the same time? Can anyone guide me in this?
This is all a bit confusing … They are talking of two different departments. You need a “merchant account on the Internet” and a “payment gateway”. You can get an internet merchant account one of its local banks, or someplace like many providers WorldPay payment service is configured with a merchant account and payment gateway. BankDirect is the gateway WorldPay payment. Is a trademark of Authorize.net payment gateway, probably the most popular and supported shopping carts. The merchant account is a relationship that you have contract between your company and banks / Visa that says you can accept credit cards. The “payment gateway” is the tool used to process Actual payments. It is analogous to a credit card terminal. Your shopping cart is connected to the payment gateway. Internet merchant account and your shopping cart e-commerce will both have a choice of payment gateways that support. You want to make sure that both can agree on a payment gateway.
